Transparency International’s 2011 Corruption Index

Corruption continues to plague too many countries around the world, according to Transparency International’s 2011 Corruption Perceptions Index released on the 1st December 2011.

Kenya has relinquished its position as the most corrupt country in East African and Kenya is ranked as the 154 most corrupt nation in the world.

Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain.  The Transparency International focuses on corruption and abuse of public power in the public sector, or corruption which involves public officials, civil servants or politicians. It includes bribery of public officials, kickbacks in public procurement and embezzlement of public funds. As such, it covers both the administrative and political aspects of corruption
