Francis is the newest to join KTDP in attachment basis.
He is currently an assistance computer trainer. He joined KTDP as a student in computer and worked hard and he now holds a certificate in computer packages. Francis is among our target group of young people from kibera,he is a form four leaver whose vision is to become an accountant, but because of lack of school fees he could not join the college after his form four so he decided to have computer skills as he waited for an opportunity to join the college.''I believe KTDP can help me get to my vision and I will be forever greatful if you help me reach my goal in life'' that was what Francis said to ktdp.

All the parents do not pick their kids the time they are supposed to pick them,the reason being they are late from work and they do not have someone who can help pick their kids from school. By this time the kids are so tired for being busy in class and playing the whole day, So the teachers make them relax in the mats as they prepare for the following day and as they wait for the parents to pick these kids.

class parents and teachers meetings

the class parents and teachers meetings were held successfully. The parents were open and raised various concerns including the desire for their children to be taken out for educational trips and play more often.
The parents also showed a great interest in our new class one but requested that we go up to class 3. While this is a matter for consideration for the whole program , it is pleasant to see that the community recognizes the quality of education and care they get from KTDP.
Also chief among the issues raised was the recent changes in the education system in Kenya. the parents shared with the teachers their thoughts on the changes proposed. The foreword of the government ECD framework reads :The Government of the Republic of Kenya recognizes the importance of Early-childhood Development, as one of the most important levers for accelerating the
attainment of Education For All (EFA) and the Millennium Development Goals(MDG; we believe that giving quality Pre primary education will enhance the future of Kibera residents to contribute to the future of Kenya.

in spite of the recent demolisions and the various things that have been going on, /we have continued to offer services to the community. This week more students are streaming in , we have 158 students in all and hoping more will join us in the coming days. Most parents in Kibera delay to take back their children to school in January due to lack of money, epecially after the Christmas holidays.

Kibera Demolishion

The residents didnt have much to do but watch from far as their structures were being demolished,some tried to remove their items from the house but unfortunately there was no where to take them. Some came back to see if they can get anything of value left.Very sad tonight many families are going to spend the night out in the cold because they have nowhere to sleep

Kibera residents were shocked when demolishers and the police came and demolished their homes today in the afternoon. The goverment has been involved in slum upgrading project where it plans to bring down the shanties and set up better housing. This has however been met by objection from various quarters including the landlords who would like to be compensated for the demolished houses. Some of the residents also feel the new houses rent may be too expensive for them to pay.

KTDP environment

In KTDP we try to handle challenges like these,well,.. it is not the very best, but believe me its a better option for our kids and the rest of our clients,considering kibera environment.we look forward to making these options better as we go on.

Kibera slums has so many challenges that people face. One of this challenges is lack of good latrines/toilets. When you walk within kibera you find flying toilets all over because that is the main option for many people. Because many cant afford the toilet for paying which is the other option.This is very dangerous especially for the kids.

KTDP environment

Thanks to KTDP for providing a better environment for the kids who are there for the better part of the day.

This time of the year is so nauseating to walk within kibera,its even worse for kibera residents.Its the time of the year that is too hot and sunny, considering the kibera environment the bad smell is allover and so strong. The wastes are all over because there is no rain to carry them away.This is very unhygienic and pose a high risk of getting diseases especially to the kids
