Kibera residents were shocked when demolishers and the police came and demolished their homes today in the afternoon. The goverment has been involved in slum upgrading project where it plans to bring down the shanties and set up better housing. This has however been met by objection from various quarters including the landlords who would like to be compensated for the demolished houses. Some of the residents also feel the new houses rent may be too expensive for them to pay.
